BACOLOD City Rep. Monico Puentevella is seeking a congressional hearing on the slow operation of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the transfer of its office to Iloilo from Bacolod.
“I’m tired of listening to people being victimized by the slow GSIS operations,” Puentevella said Thursday.

He said that since the budget hearing will start September-December, he could raise the issue in the House of Representatives the immediate transfer of the GSIS office from Bacolod to Iloilo City. “We will not allow GSIS to leave Bacolod.”
Puentevella asks the teachers, pensioners and senior citizens to submit to him their official complaints so he could use these as basis during the congressional hearing.
On the other hand, Bacolod City Council approved a resolution last Wednesday asking the GSIS to explain its financial status amid various complaints on lack of funds, especially in matters of consolidated loan applications and availment of other claims and benefits due the general membership.
