NGOs, POs get city accreditation

COUNCILOR Caesar Distrito, chairman of the Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government, authored the resolution passed on August 25 that accredits partial list of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), people's organizations (Pos) and professional groups seeking accreditation.
These accredited groups will become members of the City Development Council (CDC), City Peace and Order Council, Local School Board, Local Health Board and other local special bodies.

The accredited NGOs are: Kitahanon Small Fisherman Association (Kisfa), Micro Contractor and Supplier Multi-Purpose Coop. (Microsup, Coop), Saint Vincent's Home Incorporated, University of Saint La Salle-Business Resource Center, People's Economic Council of Bacolod (Pecbac), Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc., Federation of Senior Citizen Association, Negros Occidental
Rehabilitation Foundation Inc., Home of Hope, Inc., Negros Economic Development Foundation Inc.; Christian Foundation for Persons with Disabilities Inc., Buligkapitbahay Neighborhood Association Inc., Banago Basita Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Volunteers for the Rehabilitation of the Handicapped and Disabled Inc. (VRHD); The Philippine National Red Cross, Negros Occ. Chapter-Bacolod City, Young Men's Christian Association of Negros Occidental Inc., Negros Forests and Ecological Foundation Inc., Development through Active Women Networking Foundation Inc.; H.O.P.E. Volunteers Foundation Inc., and Barangay Banago Proper Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (BBaptoda) Inc.
These organizations have substantially complied with the requirements prescribed by DILG Memorandum Circular 2007-81.
Distrito said NGOs and other organizations play a very vital role in the decision-making and development of the city of Bacolod and that is why his committee continuous to accept applications for accreditation and re-accreditation.
