No extension in Aguirre chess fest registration deadline

THERE will be no extension in the April 2, 2010 deadline for the registration of entries In the 2nd Atonio Ivan S. Aguirre 2010 Negros Open Individual Chess Championship, a tournament official said.
The event is scheduled to open on April 4 at the Lobby of the Top’s Millennium Plaza Bowling Lanes, corner 10th/Hilado Sts., Capitol Shopping Center, Bacolod City, according to tournament director and chief arbiter Dodz Felisilda.

The event is a seven-round Swiss-system (1-hour-20-moves+1-hour-to-finish-the-game) tournament that is open to all male and female chess players from Negros island as well as “guest players” from outside Negros.
There will be no age limit for players to qualify including GMs, IMs, FMs, and NMs and entry fee is P200 per participant.
The tournament is a project of US-based Bacoleño chess patron Antonio Ivan S. Aguirre, CPA, CFE, CSI, MBA, organized and officiated by the Game Royale Aficionados of Negros, Inc. in cooperation with Top’s Millenium Plaza Bowling Lanes, Inc.
Prizes awaiting the top finishers are: for the Champion P5,000 +42-inch, four-legged “King” trophy courtesy of Mr. Antonio Ivan S. Aguirre; for the first runner-up P4,000 + 36-inch, four-legged “Queen” trophy courtesy of Mr. Anthony Leo N. Aguirre; for the second runner-up P3,000 + 30-inch, four-legged “Rook” trophy courtesy of Eng. Hugo D. Villanueva, P.E.; for the third runner-up P2,000 + 27-inch, four-legged “Bishop” trophy courtesy of Eng. Jeremy Kirk Chavez; and for the fourth runner-up P1,000 +24-inch “Knight” trophy courtesy of Mr. Kemal Karaseki; while the sixth to 20th finishers will each receive chess set with mat and bag courtesy of Mr. Demosthenes Glenn Averia, Mr. Allan Pamplona and Mr. Don Niño Santos.
Meanwhile, the top three scorers in the Female (Open) Category will receive for the (1st Place) P700 + Gold Chess Medal; for the (2nd) Place P500 + Silver Chess Medal; and for the (3rd Place) P300 + Bronze Chess Medal. And the (1st place) in the Kiddies (13 Years Old & Below) Category will get P500 + Gold Chess Medal; for (2nd Place) P300 + Silver Chess Medal; and (3rd Place) P200 + Bronze Chess Medal all courtesy of Ms. Charo Sayno.
