Justice for the Alejandrinos

AFTER months of storming heaven and earth with their cries and pleas for justice and righteousness, God has finally listened to the Alejandrinos and handed down His judgment.

He has chosen the side of Alejandrinos because they are good hearted and faithful. He rejected and brought down their accusers and oppressors led by its chieftain Mayor Evelio Leonardia because they are full of hatred, deceit and vengeance. God despised people without love in their heart.

God used the good hearted and righteous in the Ombudsman and the Civil Service Commission to hand down His justice. He did not use the best legal minds in the court, but the faithful to their calling and profession.

As I said, no matter how Mayor Evelio Leonardia and his ilk discourage the sympathizers of Alejandrino family and the media to refrain from politicizing Alejandrino’s death, they just cannot parry the public perception that they have contributed to the complication of Alejandrino’s ailment, turned him to state of depression that finally led to his untimely death.

If Alejandrino could only speak again, he would surely point his accusing finger to Leonardia and his ilk and his special court that dismissed him and pushed him to eventually march to his perdition.

Truly, God always listens to the cries of His people; it gives them strength and hope at a time of despair and confusion.

I reiterate, Alejandrino’s death will not leave in vain in the New Government Center (NGC) and the city populace. The rumblings are everywhere and they are seeking justice. Sooner or later, like-minded critics, groups, or a movement will emerge to put an end to the culture of impunity, violence, vindictiveness, demagoguery and treachery in the NGC.

Indeed, the blood of Jesus Christ have removed all our sins and made us “new man”; now the blood in the hands of Leonardia and his ilk will continue to hound them to the depths of their conscience and humanity.

It won’t be long that God will also hand down His judgment on thousands of other cries and pleas of Bacolodnons who suffered the same fate from the despised rulers, Pharisees and gentiles of the modern day local republic.

COAL-FIRED power plant in Cadiz City must be stopped. While coal-fired power plants together with nuclear power plants are being shut down in most parts of the world, in Cadiz City, its local officials in cahoots with big power producers are going to construct them, as if they are ignoramus of its historical records and environmental damages and hazards.

Coal, of whatever grade is highly contaminant and pollutant. It contains highly poisonous arsenic and lead. It also contains radioactive substance like iodine 131 which can destroy skin, bladder and lungs. Its pollution can cause numerous respiratory diseases, especially on children.

Its energy potentials maybe higher but they cannot substitute its environmental and human hazards. We have enough cases in the Philippines of coal fired plants’ damaging impact on people and environment.

People, Cadiznons, Negrenses and Filipinos, must oppose it by all means at all costs.

There are better energy sources that can be used by Cadiz City government for its needs. Its wide area with open exposure to sun can be utilized for solar energy; its rivers can be converted to run of the river micro geothermal power plants; its coastal geographical character has a good potential for generating power from wind technology; its vast stocks of wastes from sugarcane, fish products, etc., can be used for waste-based energy generation plant.

The usual problem with a number of our local governments is that they conveniently take money kickbacks as chief consideration for energy generation and development than people’s needs and environmental risks.
