Pacquiao, all mankind will face an avalanche of trials

-A A +A

THE defeat of Pacman is only part of the trials he will be facing. Mommy D is just being a good mother. She fed her family through prayer. We cannot expect her to be otherwise. But there comes a time in the life of a person when he can be an effective Christian trying to bring other people to Christ. That is when he will be facing big trials.

From the words of Pacman, we can conclude he is deeply in Christ. When you are in Christ, you will want to bring others to Him. That is when you will be facing a lot of major trials because enemies of God in the dark spiritual realm will always try to step you. But you are greater than all the demons in the army of Satan. By the mere mention of the name of Jesus Christ, your mouth is like a flame thrower blowing fire at all the demons trying to stop you.

Some 30 years ago, a friend invited me to attend a born-again seminar. In my mind, I thought I know all the philosophies and the theologies in Ateneo for ten years. But I refrained from expressing my thoughts for fear of being considered haughty. I attended and the Holy Spirit took over my inner haughtiness, maybe saying, "Let's see how brilliant you are!"

We were asked to come forward and I lamely went. After receiving Christ, the pastor touched the skin of my forehead. He said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." I felt like a big firecracker exploded in my face. When I was on the floor, I felt so much peace. I longed to hear the word of God.

When I arrived home, I got the Bible which was just gathering dust and I opened it. It opened in the Book of Revelation Chapter 17. It was written by the apostle John in prison in the Island of Patmos. It is supposed to be the hardest to understand but I read it like a novel. It shocked me when it was about the city that sits on 7 hills, Rome, how God condemned that city for being a famous prostitute, misleading the people to worship what is contrary to the word of God's law. I asked the Holy Spirit to open my mind and continued reading that book, maybe around 30 times. It's the same meaning.

It's time to be out. I brought all my farm workers to Christ, telling then we are not joining a new religion; we just have a close relationship with Christ. So they would know what to do with their lives. We have a pastor and a lady pastora to attend to their spiritual needs.
