Pork Barrel Will Now Be Beer Barrel-A A +A
Monday, August 26, 2013
WHAT’S in a name? You read it all and heard it all that the national leadership of this kenkoy country called the Philippines is in favor of maintaining the pork barrel. But surely many bright boys in the circle of the national leadership will just rename the billions of pesos that legislators enjoy. So the mighty dad will show that indeed the pork barrel has been scrapped. Or maybe scrapped of its crispy skin, a La Salle alumnus loudly declares.
What is most important is that legislators should be the makers of laws and not act as architects, engineers, urban planners, project developers and landscapers of this clown country. Legislators are not supposed to be the decision makers on what project to do for a city or town. Neither should the legislator decide what projects to build to build his name on maybe, butted in the car salesman in a coffee talk.
Why blame Napoles for the alleged scam. She was just a recipient of the said billions. But the real culprit should be the giver, not the receiver. She did not insist to grab those billions. She was just too smart to play around with those lazy legislators who never even had the damned time to ask whether the project was done or not. You see how they waste people’s money because the money does not really belong to them, said the golfer gulping beer.
The ones to be investigated should be the giver of the money because the giver probably never attempted to do even recheck whether the recipient is legitimate or not. Neither did the giver even demand a project plan on how the people’s money should be spent.
Did these lawmakers have a basis of how to hand over the money? So why blame the receiver. The Pusher should be punished not the Receiver or User. The stupidity lies somewhere. And you know who the stupid ones are, right, exclaimed the planter.
To abolish the pork barrel is easy. What is in a name, anyway? But if you sincerely take out the PDAF, or pork barrel or whatever name you may call it, surely the sales of Ford Expedition, Jaguar, Range Rover, Volvo, Audi, Mercedes Benz will be a sad record. And for sure, only a few will run as candidates. Why can’t these legislators just ride an Escapade, a Vios, or a Grandhia, asked a retired banker.
