What is Bacolod and Negros Occidental without BREDCO-A A +A
Tuesday, September 10, 2013
LOCAL government and the port developers have had many instances in the past administration of the attempt of the former to take over the port or partly manage the seaport of the city, whichever may be the case.
Many residents are asking why it took time for the local government to allege that part of the seaport should belong to the local government. And some claim that this is a private undertaking that government has not invested any centavo at all and will just wait for its claim as its share.
Whatever are the legal impediments that abound this seaport development, there is no denying that Negrenses and Bacolenos owe it to the man who had the vision to have a seaport for the city and province that could steer the economy. The man of vision is no other than Atty Sammy Palanca as everyone knows of him. Everyone owes it to him and please let us all give the credit and even the honor that he is responsible for the continuing economic upscale in Bacolod.
Could one imagine if this city and province only relied on the privately-owned Banago Port which was never developed to a better state? How can one imagine if there is no Bredco Seaport and no transport facility is available between the islands of Region VI? Yes thank the man named Sammy Palanca and no one else. Whatever is the legal argument, Sammy is The Man.
Roro vessels, fast crafts, inter-sland vessels are the means for transporting commodities and passengers and how is that possible without Bredco. All others are dreams of vision. But Palanca’s dream and vision are now a reality. Thank him for that so-called toy we all call Bredco.
The idea of Baywalk entertainment destination to be opened by the city government is not a bad idea. The Mayor has a vision of tourism and this Baywalk is an attraction that is if its owners know how to convert it into one. The problem before is why did the local government allow it to happen and be registered at the start then revoke it.
This is a similar story we read in the local news that there is a complaint about a new hotel in the city of its alleged violations. For sure even those complainants knew it at the beginning. If that complainant had coffee with the owner and gave him a Christian-like advice, then the owner could have thanked him. The problem is why they waited for the building to be total ready for business and here comes a complaint. Is there something fishy that could be fished from the owners? Let everyone be business friendly and help businessmen rather than annoy them. God bless those killjoys and jealous faces on this earth.
