P2 MILLION, P4 million, or P5 million?
The City Council, clarified Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, has approved only P2 million, not any other figures for the forthcoming MassKara Festival celebration and the then hotly-debated Charter Day anniversary of the City of Smiles.
With Mayor Monico Puentevella returning to the October celebration, not the June commemoration as posited by the former administration of ex-mayor now Bacolod Lone District Rep. Evelio Leonardia, the Charter Day is back to October.
What now with the expenses?
The Kasadyahan Foundation now running the MassKara had earlier said it has P4 million in budget for the festivities. What then is the effect, should there be any, to the activities lined-up for the event?
While there is a perceived disagreement, or could be just a little adjustments as to the budget for the MassKara, it is just hoped that nothing will be prejudiced thereby, and the celebration will just be as joyous, or even more, as with the past celebrations.
After all, the essence of these October celebrations is not solely for the benefit of the politicians, but to the Bacolodnons in general.
While there may be a perceived quarrel over numbers as to funds for the MassKara Fest and the Charter Day event, the people of Bacolod deserve to commemorate these affairs, however, these may be politically-rooted or affected.
