Phuket is fantastic like the Philippines-A A +A

WHEN you say Phuket, those who know the place will mark it as a beach destination. Just like when you shout Boracay, then it is the pristine white sand in the Visayas.
Oftentimes, tourism leaders of our country will insist that our country has better beaches than Phuket. But there is more to the beach than what our mouths could utter. If our beaches are better, which I agree, why is it that Phuket has around nine million tourists on record already as of June this year and they are looking at twelve million by end of the year.
And while we have a better Boracay sand, why can we not go further and improve our tourist count in this country? In my recent trip to Phuket, Thailand last weekend, I was impressed with the ambiance of this island…the very casual motion of fun and excitement.
We were hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) at the posh Novotel Phuket Village Park, a big hotel located just within the central part of PATONG district, the area devastated by tsunami years back. I could not see a mark of the tsunami scene in that PATONG area. The district can be compared to the boulevard of Dumaguete for you to imagine with the mocha beach sand just around fifteen meters from the waters. On the road are nightbars and fun destinations that open until almost sunrise.
We drove up the highlands to see the Big Buddha and the winding roads that we passed I could compare to the drive to our own Salvador Benedicto town. And I kept attention to how SalBen Mayor Jomax Ortiz could make use of such ideas for his own tourism destination.
If the Department of Tourism of this country is doing their serious homework and not just attending those Travel exhibitions, this Philippines can easily double its tourism count. It is the political intervention of politics that affect this country. Let DOT Ramon Jimenez do his homework without whispers from the Palace how to do it. The man will be inutile in his visions if he really wants to prove that indeed it is More Fun in the Philippines. That remains to be proven. Life in Phuket is just like what we have. Why can’t we be somewhat similar to Thailand and Malaysia. Never mind thinking about Singapore, we will never be since there is not political will in this country, not unless the combined forces of Rodrigo Duterte, Bayani Fernando, Richard Gordon and Hagedorn will make greater heights for this kenkoy country called the Philippines. Amen.
