MassKara was Successful-A A +A
Thursday, October 24, 2013
The recent MassKara Festival celebration that started in 1980 was a big success. It is so because the organizers infused innovations into the festivity. It was always my dream that somehow new styles and new approaches will come about and indeed it happened. This could be attributed probably because there are the new faces that are on top of it all.
Congratulations to Rhoderick Samonte and his group for giving the tourists the new brand of festival celebration. The use of the old Coca Cola compound along Lacson Street was something innovative. Sparing the public plaza sides of those barriotic kind of drinking joints was of good taste and please maintain it to be. At least the public plaza remained cleaner than years back.
Robinsons Place Bacolod gave out an entertaining weekend with artists from GMA led by Bacolena Kuh Ledesma and the younger set of John Lloyd and more. The auto shows at the City Walk was another delight coupled with the gathering of big bikers all over Visayas that gave more business to the establishments.
The Lacson Tourists Strip was just filled with glitters of merrymakers and festival revelers and there is nothing much that could be said but safety is the most important gauge of a successful festivity.
In my own experience as Special Projects Chairman (1994) and Festival Manager (2001) of the MassKara Festival, I give very high points to the creativity of this year’s festivity and the tourists expect an upscale of festival creativity year after year. Congratulations to everyone.
The visiting Visayas big bikers are thankful to Salvador Benedicto Mayor Jomax Ortiz for hosting their upland ride to that scenic town last Friday. And their appreciation also goes to Silay City Mayor Oti Montelibano for his hosting of their Saturday luncheon as Thunderbugs Bacolod President Bobby Tinsay and VPs Mikey Benedicto, Danny Atayde and Boody Valderrama were on hand to take care of their guests. We also said hello to our friend the Petron Vice-President Archie Gupalor. Also a hello to Jan Lopue, Roland Jubilag, Mark Jimenez, Sherwin Damasco, James Montoya, Alvic Alfafara, Daphne Quitco, and all.
