Visiting Dumaguete

-A A +A

IT WILL be a cool comfortable ride commuting via the aircon Ceres Tours today as I visit Dumaguete City for a visit to the Offices of the Governor, Mayor, Vice Mayor and the District Congressmen. This is in preparation for the Sports Tourism event to be held in early July to be attended by sportsmen, entrepreneurs, corporate figures, and travel and tourism individuals.

It is a privilege that some faces in Dumaguete are making use of my modest knowledge in travel and tourism and this will be an opportune time to share with them the things we have learned in the annual travels hosted by the Malaysian Tourism Board, Tourism Authority of Thailand, to name a few. Expats in Dumaguete will host my stay and meals. Cheers to that, guys.

The efforts in promoting football being done by sportsman Leo Rey Yanson is something to be commended and be honored about. The young man is in love with football and his passion for the game made him glued to his love for it. In the ongoing AFC President’s Cup football matches being held at Panaad Park and Stadium, the young man initiated improvements in the facilities and amenities that made this game hosting for the province of Negros Occidental and City of Bacolod be possible. Otherwise, the hosting might have ended up with substandard facilities which needed rehabilitation. Kudos to you Sir, and to Mr. Golez, Warren Concepcion and the team.

Bacolod City’s Manokan Country remains to hold the reputation of offering the best chicken inasal on earth. But hosts to visitors in Bacolod are hesitant to bring their guests and relatives to the place because of the substandard toilets that have not been given importance by the owners.

This is probably so because the City Health of Bacolod has also clearly failed in the performance of their duties to help boost tourism by making sure that the toilets are of hygienic standards. It is a shame that for many decades, nothing spectacular has come about with Manokan Country. At least, my favorite Aida’s Manokan has improved its toilets better than the rest because owner Toto Tarrosa has seen its value.

Another establishment that impressed Bacolod visitors is the amenities of O’ Fisher Spa along Lacson Street. This is the kind of hygienic manner and aesthetics that establishments should maintain. We salute owner Babes Fisher.
