THE anti-drug campaign in schools now includes storytelling.
In observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week, the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Bacolod Inc. in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bacolod and Barkada Kontra Droga held the 1st storytelling competition at Rizal Elementary School on Tuesday.
This endeavor aims to spread awareness among the youth about the ills of illegal drugs.
Elementary pupils and high school students told stories that were achored on the theme, “Makinig muna: Ang pakikinig sa mga bata o kabataan ay daan upang tulungan silang lumaki na malusog at ligtas.”
Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya, through his representative German Bullulaza Jr., said this endeavor will help instill in the minds of the youth to be more focused on their studies.
This will also provide them wisdom and be inspired to do better in their studies to avoid being lured on the use of illegal substance, he said.
“The good Congressman supports this endeavor as a healthy means for the youth. It’s good that there are organizations with the support of DepEd that work on this kind of activity,” he said.
A lot of students are now aware of the ills of illegal drugs and this is one positive indicator that our campaign is gaining ground, he added.
