Panaad 2010 sportsfest events announced

AT LEAST seven events have been announced by the Provincial Sports Development Office headed by Manuel de Oro as among the sports events that will be open for athletes.

The said athletes will be representing their respective local government units (LGUs0 as part of the 2010 Panaad sa Negros sportsfest from March 22 to 27, 2010.

In athletics, the field events include a three-kilometer run for Under-13 participants scheduled to kick off at 6:00 a.m. on March 23; a five-kilometer run for Under-17 participants scheduled to kick off 6:00 a.m. on March 24; a three-kilometer run for women to start 6:00 a.m. on March 25; and a five-kilometer run for men scheduled to start 6:00 a.m. on March 25.

Boxing competition will also be staged at the Panaad Stadium with boxers scheduled to weigh-in on March 22, 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Panaad Stadium while competition is scheduled from March 22 to 26, 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Chess competition is scheduled from March 23-25 starting 8:00 a.m., at the Panaad VIP Room.

Taekwondo competition is likewise scheduled from March 20-21 while weight-in is scheduled from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on March 20 at the Panaad Stadium second floor.

Volleyball competitions are also scheduled from March 22-26 at the Panaad softball field.

On March 26, starting 7:00 a.m. at the Mambucal Summer Resort, the Mambucal Team Relay will be staged from the resort to the Panaad Stadium.

This year’s Panaad Sportsfest will culminate with the Murcia to Panaad Run on March 27, starting 6:00 a.m.

All events will be supervised by personnel of the Provincial Sports Development Office in cooperation with the different local sports associations in the province.
