PB 'out-of-town' sessions benefit Negrenses

Friday, September 3, 2010

THE "out-of-town" sessions of the Negros Occidental Provincial Board (PB) translated to more efficient delivery of government service to Negrenses, said Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez.

Alvarez said they have delivered projects in towns and cities where the PB had held their sessions.

Members of the provincial legislative body also gained insights from their personal observations regarding the actual needs of the community during their tour of local government units through their session outside the Provincial Capitol.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon makes it a point to attend the out-of-town session of the PB, Alvarez said.

For instance, in its previous session held in and hosted by San Carlos City, Marañon approved the P1.2-million allocation for the Association of Barangay Chairmen Hall of the city.

The Provincial Government also allocated P2 million for the Municipal Health Building during the San Carlos session.

Through these out-of-town sessions, the provincial officials were able to personally acquaint themselves to the needs of the locality, Alvarez added.

Pulupandan will host the next out-of-town session on September 25.

Next week, however, the Provincial Board will hold its session on Tuesday, instead of the regular Wednesday session, as officials will attend the Negros Trade Fair slated on September 8 to 9 in Manila. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
