A POWER blackout of almost one-and-a-half hour hit Bacolod City and other parts of Negros Occidental Wednesday night.
The power loss happened when Central Negros Electric Cooperative's 138 kilo volt Line 1 and Line 2 tripped-off in its substation in Kabankalan City, said Roel Venus, public information officer.

The trip-off caused the blackout from Bacolod City down to San Enrique town as early as 9 p.m. in southern Negros hitting as far as cities of Cadiz and San Carlos in the north.
Joy Mijares, a Ceneco PIO staff, said that the blackout in Bacolod was originally caused by an insane male person who climbed at the transformer of the Burgos substation's main feeder located in Barangay Estefania, and eventually hit when the trip off happened.
The trip-off report, according to Venus was per official communication from the office of Engineer Zosimo A. Briones, head of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
Venus said that engineering operation and technical crew were sent to Kabankalan substation to troubleshoot the power blackout.
