Psychic predicts poll win

AIRED over dyEZ Aksyon Radyo, Negros-based and famous fortuneteller Willy Tortosa predicted that should Mayor Evelio Leonardia not use money during the elections, "he would not win...it's going to be difficult for him."

But the mayor himself welcomed the predictions, saying that in the past elections, "money has always been an issue but the people of Bacolod voted the candidates not for the money alone."

Tortosa predicted that it's a close fight between Bacolod Representative Monico Puentevella and Leonardia for the mayoralty race.

"It would be a hard fight for Leonardia to win, if he would not use more money in 2010 elections," said Tortosa.

Tortosa also predicted that incumbent Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson will make it for the vice mayoral post and Ricardo Tan for the congressional race.

Leonardia said if it would be based on money alone, they had not won the past elections.

Leonardia believed that the people of Bacolod exercise their votes according to their conscience.

Sayson, in the meantime, lauded Tortosa's predictions but said, he does not rely on it "but have to work hard in reaching to people" although he said positive predictions can also be an inspiration.

New Year resolution

Leonardia expressed hope for the City of Bacolod to do his best this 2010. He said the city in 2009 "had showed signs of recovery with a great momentum."

"We would like to ride the momentum of 2009 to push for more improvements and developments this 2010," said Leonardia.

He added, "I'm being consistent with all my New Year resolutions, I will always try to do better than my best, as 2010 is a year with much optimism."

He said the city has major projects that will definitely change the landscape of Bacolod and enhance the image of the city, as among the top premiere city in the Philippines.

Leonardia emphasized that the city government would now prioritize the major projects in the city such as the sanitary landfill, Bacolod North terminal, relocation site, implementation of salary standardization law, establishment of lying-in clinics, new Bacolod Panaad Pavilion, and the eye center.

He noted that the implementation of the salary standardization law is very significant, caring on the employees of the city to also encourage and inspire them to do better and keep up to the expectation of the people.
