A special guest will be Rotary District Governor James Makasiar. A keen golfer, the Zamboanga-based governor will kick off the tournament with a ceremonial drive from the first tee.

"This is an important event for us as the funds raised enable the club to conduct its many community programs", said club president Max Javelona. "And it's always a fun event."

Benefiting from the proceeds will be local schools and the many needy people who take advantage of the cub's medical missions each year.

The tournament has once again attracted major sponsors including Coca-Cola, Teleperformance, UCPBGEN and Gov. Freddie Marañon. There will be prizes galore this year including a complimentary stay for two at the Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa.

Players can sign up on the first day of the event at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club.  Registration is Php1,800, which includes green fees, the awards dinner, mulligans and gimmes. The tournament director is club past president Pebs Reyes. (With reports from Robert Harland)
