SAGAY City -- Sagay City mayor and United Negros Alliance (UNA) gubernatorial bet Alfredo "Freddie" Maranon, Jr. said Friday he is going to support the candidacy of Ilonggo Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas of the Liberal Party for vice president.
“I am surely supporting Mar Roxas because he is from Negros”, Maranon said.

But despite the visit of presidential candidate Manuel Villar at the fiesta of Sagay City Friday, Maranon said he could not yet tell who among the presidential candidates he will be supporting for the coming May 10 elections.
Maranon said, he cannot yet decide who to support at this time because he is still waiting who will be favored by his boss among the presidentiables.
“I‘m still praying, asking for discernment who will be our leader of this divided land. He must be a very wise leader because he will face a very big problem”, he said.
Maranon said Villar is one of the good leaders but there are many of them aspiring. “Noynoy Aquino is also a good person”, he said.
Villar who is the standard bearer of the Nacionalista Party (NP) meanwhile said, as a matter of policy, he will give it to the local officials to announce their support for him.
“I’m just waiting patiently for their support of my bid. In the whole country that’s what I am doing. Freddie is my friend as he was a colleague at the House of Representatives when I was congressman. At this time as the campaign for the local candidates nears, many local officials gave their support for me coming from different parties like Lakas, NPC and other parties.”, he said
Among the local officials who already confirmed their support for Villar were Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III and fourth district Congressman Jeffrey Ferrer.
Ferrer assured Friday Villar of the winning votes of 80 percent of the 180,000 total voting population in his district.
