DISORGANIZED and irresponsible were the words hurled to the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (Nopsscea) Sports Task Force by a Bacolod Tay Tung High School coach on Saturday. The Thunderbolts were scheduled for an 8 a.m. elementary encounter against Maranatha Christian Academy Alijis at STI-WNU gym.

By 8:30 a.m., the venue was not ready yet as the janitors were frantically working to clean the mess left by a Masskara event the previous night. The complaining coach added that the players and parents were upset by the sight of the irresponsibility and lack of concern of the people tasked by Nopsscea to handle this year's basketball tournament.

Loptta paddlers dominate Masskara Open Tourney

PLAYERS of the Lopue's Table Tennis Association (Loptta) of Leonito "Diotay" Lopue dominated the Masskara 2014 Table Tennis Tournament held on October 17 to 19 at Lopue's San Sebastian Department Store Annex Building in Bacolod City.

They ruled all 10 categories.

THE University of St. La Salle (Ceres-La Salle Football Team) survived a tough final match against University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams, 1-nil to keep its title in the 34th Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) men’s football at the North Football Field in Talisay City.

The win made it a double victory celebration as it turned out to be a birthday gift for Stingers head coach Freddie “Nene” Lazarito.

Gumban demolishes Echavez in 1st round

ESCALANTE City's Melvin "Top Gun" Gumban scored an easy TKO win over Roger Echavez of Cagayan de Oro City en route to his 18th win in the main event ALA Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing Tournament at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City Saturday.

Gumban connected with a devastating straight right that sent Echavez to the canvas in the very first round. After 10 counts, international referee Samson Libres stopped the bout in just a minute and 12 seconds.

Athletes from 42 schools coming for 19th UniGames

THE Philippine Champions League Board has granted the request of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) Sports Task Force to allow last year's champion in college basketball to represent the association in the Visayas Regional Championship on October 2 to 5 in Dumaguete City.

Executive Director Joe Lipa replied that due to time constraint, the PCCL rule is waived since Nopsscea college basketball is still ongoing.
