888, Sta. Fe Resort post wins in Tan Kek Pin basket tourney

888 Chinatown Square defeated Nena's Rose I 76-70, while Sta. Fe Resort routed Alfie’s Construction, 84-67, last Wednesday in Class B of the 12th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at TTHS Po Hang Gym.
Ralph Richard Tan and Marc Lo combined for 5 treys in the 1st quarter to lead 888 Chinatown to a 22-16 opening quarter lead even as Yan Yan Dy scored 12 points for Nena's Rose I.

888 extended the lead at the break to 39-32 as Rey Pandoro and Jan Jan Lopue conspired for 13 points
Both teams equaled their 3rd quarter output at 15 points each while Dy continued to sizzle with 14 points in the 4th quarter, but it was not enough to overhaul the lead as 888 countered with the 9 points of Lo and 7 points by Pandoro to seal its 2nd win in the tourney.
Lo topscored with 21 points for 888, Pandoro added 14 points and Tan had 11 points while Richard Co, Lopue and Jolly Castillo delivered 8 points apiece.
Dy paced the losers with 28 points, Dr. Chico Coruña with 11 points, Richard Uy had 9 points and Luigi Coo delivered 7 points.
In the 2nd game, Sta. Fe Resort pulled away in the 1st half, 55-27, to register its 2nd win in the tournament.
Sta. Fe Resort opened the quarter with ex-USLS Stinger Daniel Chiu delivering all his 12 points in the opening quarter, followed by Michael Ang’s 3 treys and Ren Ren Lacson netting 12 points in the 2nd quarter to post a commanding lead.
Sta. Fe was led by Lacson with 17 points, Bol Manaloto scored 13 points, Ang made 12 points, all from the trifecta area, while Edward Uy had 8 points.
Bong Palo paced Alfie’s with 14 points, Jeremy Coo added 10 points, Danny Boy Uy delivered 8 points, while Peter Galon, Keith Banzon and Tim Garrucho had 7 points each. (Stephen Tan)
