BAYS Club salvaged a 76-73 cliffhanger over Hinigaran on Vernie Villarias' buzzer-beating triple last January 29. On Sunday, Handumanan succumbed to the same squad, 81-88 in the beleaguered league abandoned by its original sponsors.

Through the intercession of Bing Soyao, adviser of the Basketball Unified Sports Group, the tournament resumed with Commissioner Nene Lapore being able to pay its gym rental and referees fees. Some private entities and government officials approached to support failed to reply, lamented Lapore.
In other 40-Up division results, La Carlota dumped Panaad Striders, 84-66 and Negros Basketball Group stunned PSC Sum-ag 72-62. League-leading BUS Group cemented its hold for the top post with a 102-82 drubbing of Hinigaran.
HBO-Homesite surprised themselves and Real Med, 72-47 in a lone 50-Up game suspected to have been intentionally dropped by the favorites to gain advantage in the semifinal round.
Lapore said that the next round in both categories is scheduled a week or two from now. BUSG Huskies duel with Hinigaran and Real Med goes up against NeproAC in the 50 above in the crossover.
The 40 Up qualifiers will be known later in this league which started November, 2011 with the solon and Mrs. Jewel Mae Lobaton Pimentel in attendance during its opening ceremony.
Lapore added that the offices of the Lone District of Bacolod and the honorable senator could no longer be reached for comment. The solon's executive assistant and Alijis barangay chief, who brokered the project, seemed to have disappeared, Lapore concluded.
