250 teams expected in Talisay bootfest

ABOUT 250 teams are expected to participate in two successive football tournaments which will be held on February 9-12 in Talisay City, as part of the city’s celebration of its 14th Charter Day Anniversary on February 11.

“Eighty-five teams have already registered as of Wednesday. Registration is still on-going,” Warren A. Concepcion, Talisay City sports coordinator, said Thursday.

Kicking off the tournament on February 9-10 is the “Mayor Doc Eric 7–Aside City Football Festival", to be followed by the “Mayor Doc Eric National Football Festival” on February 11-12 at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) and Talisay City Football Field.

Matches will be played in 12 football fields, six each from the cited venues.

Teams from Iloilo, Negros Oriental and Cebu have been invited to join the event.

The categories and respective of the tourneys are:

Under–13 Boys (born on January 1, 1999 and after), Under-13 Girls (January 1, 1999 and after), Under-18 Boys (January 1, 1994 and after) and 38 years old and above (January 1, 1974 and before) which will be played on February 9, 10 & 11;

10-Under Boys/Girls or mixed (born January 1, 2002 and after), Under–15 Boys (January 1, 1997 and after), Ladies Open and Men’s Open which will be played on February 9, 10 & 12.

Fourteen teams have already signed up for the 10-Under category, 30 teams in Under 13, 22 teams in Under 15, 7 teams in Under 18 and 12 teams in the exciting Men's Open.
