TO MAKE sure everything is ready for the 2012 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) slated March 12 to 16 at Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Bacolod City, the host province of Negros Occidental has allocated P4 million for the upgrading of meet venues.
Mario Amaca, principal of Negros Occidental High School (NOHS), said recently that Governor Alfredo G. Marañon Jr. allocated the fund for the upgrading and rehabilitation of volleyball, basketball and lawn tennis courts at Paglaum Sports Complex, which is adjacent to NOHS.

Paglaum Sports Complex will host elementary boys volleyball, secondary girls basketball and elementary and secondary girls lawn tennis. Other events to be played at sports complex are archery, elementary and secondary boys baseball and elementary and secondary girls softball.
Amaca added that the construction is ongoing and is being undertaken by the Provincial Engineer’s Office.
Meanwhile, Provincial Information Officer Karen Dinsay said that there might be some changes in the playing venues.
Romeo Sison, Department of Education Provincial Sports head, still has to disclose these changes, Dinsay added.
Sison stated recently that all preparations have been in place for the upcoming WVRAA meet here.
Venues and billeting centers for different delegations have already been finalized, as well as the personnel in charge of the venues and billeting centers, he added.
