SIX teams will see action when the Basketball Unified Sports Group-Sharp invitational opens June 17 at the West Negros University gym here in Bacolod City.
BACIWA, HBO (Homesite) and San Dionisio Basketball Club will join BUSG squads Condura, Panasonic and Syntax according to tournament commissioner Bing Soyao on Wednesday at WNU covered court where the Huskies practice MWF.
Entry fee is pegged at P4,500 and a refundable default bond of P500 payable before the start of the tournament. Players must be 40 years old and above and limited to 15 per team. Games will be played on Sundays only.
League format is a single round robin elimination, crossover semifinal and knockout final to be covered by a legitimate referees association to be named later by Soyao.
BUS Group, which numbers 60 in membership, are composed of professionals who love basketball. Founded in 2004, the group first started using Po Hang gym but found its schedule too tight for comfort. The Huskies transferred at Lopue's South Square gym and made its home for years until management converted it to a call center facility.
Looking for a gym located at the heart of the city, the Huskies decided to shift at WNU covered court, the only available space as the gym is fully booked with other ball clubs.
