OPENING day winners Condura, Panasonic and Syntax try to duplicate its luck on Sunday, June 24 when Sharp-Basketball Unified Sports Group invitational tournament resumes at West Negros University gym here.
Syntax takes on Melfern-San Dionisio at 1 p.m. while Condura battles Homesite Basketball Organization at 2:30. Panasonic faces BACIWA at 4:00 as BUSG members and guests celebrate "San Juan" with a weekend tripleheader.
Winner over HBO in a 75-72 cliffhanger, Syntax will rely again on Rex Bayer, Arnel Tornilla, Dagol Flores and Edgar Basco, all double digit scorers last week. Center Rene Verde and Jose Cadagat will provide stiff opposition from Melfern/SD and try to steal one to bolster its record going to the next round.
Condura is expected to encounter rough sailing against HBO whose lineup include 3-point artists Amit Teruel and Adrian Melocoton, penetrating James delos Reyes and Richard Occida in the paint. Center Ban Tong is a doubtful starter with a sprained ankle but his presence will boost HBO's rebounding.
The Ref Makers will welcome Bandoy Aliermo who missed his first game. The ex-CSA-Bacolod power forward will join ex-Eagle Bernie Chan who powered his way with rebounds and putbacks in beating BACIWA, 79-75.
The Water Dealers, whose only weakness is in the paint for lack of ceiling, will face Panasonic, 88-57 winner over Melfern/San Dionisio. BACIWA lost to Condura, 75-79 but is expected to bounce back against the TV Makers who surprised themselves in their debut.
Tournament commissioner Bing Soyao has transferred all games to start at 1:00 p.m. so as not to conflict with morning schedules of other WNU gym clients.
League format calls for a single round robin elimination, crossover semifinal and a knockout final.
