Sharp-BUS Group semifinal starts Sunday

IT IS back to zero as the Sharp-Basketball Unified Sports Group starts its semifinal round on Sunday at West Negros University gym.
League-leader Condura has only to repeat its dominance over Panasonic (#4) at 2:00 p.m. to be in the final on August 5. At 3:30 p.m. number 2 Syntax is expected to have its hands full against number 3 Homesite Basketball Organization which it beat, 75-73 in the first round.
Condura dealt Panasonic a 114-107 drubbing on July 8 and most likely will prevail. Its trip to the championship, however, depends on the presence of the Ref Makers' Magnificent 7 in Bandoy Aliermo, Bert Celis, Bernie Chan, Felipe Tumamot, Digol Benedicto, Ireneo Morales and Matt Rayo.
The luckless Panasonic may extend the series on July 29 if Hermi Derwill, Rey de Guzman, Koko Fuentebella, Macky Macayan, Biboy Java, Tanker Habaradas and Ed Cruz play their roles and act together to shatter the invincibility of Condura.
Syntax will rely on brothers Rex and Rigor Bayer at the backcourt, penetrator Arnel Tornilla, long shooters Raymundo Sapa and Digol Flores and inside players Edgar Basco and Allan Antones.
HBO, however, will be no pushover with the addition of long tom artist Adrian Melocoton to compliment James delos Reyes and Amit Teruel. Lanky Bantong will combine with Francis Occida underneath while Rustom Depalubos and Jomario Mahilum provide perimeter firepower. Ageless Armando Eso still has the legs and the hustle for more pressure.
A win for HBO and Panasonic will complete the twice-to-beat series against the leaders next Sunday (29th).
Tournament commissioner Bing Soyao said that the losers play for third at 2:00 and the winners at 3:30 definitely on August 5 finale.
