Gentech, Fyr Fighter subdue opponents

MRT Gentech notched its 3rd straight victory over Campuestohan Highland Resort 110-105 while Fyr Fyter Marketing held off Orix Metro 85-79 in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd conference Intercolor tournament at TTHS Po Hang Gym.
Rey Pandoro finished with 25 points, as he led a balanced offensive for MRT to counter Yan Yan Dy’s 43-point.output for Campuestohan.
Dy was unstoppable in the 1st quarter, as he dropped 23 points for a 33-27 advantage, even as Rey Pandoro contributed 10 points.
Tubby Villanueva surprised Campuestohan, as he sunk all his 19 points in the 2nd quarter and the lead changed hands favoring MRT at the break 60-53.
Bol Manaloto picked up 11 points with Pandoro and Tim Garrucho combining for 11 points to extend the lead to 86-75.
Dy scored 20 points in the 2nd half with 10 points in the payoff quarter and Ralph Richard Tan’s 3 treys kept Campuestohan within striking distance but the timely hits of Pandoro and the volume of free throw shots in the quarter carried MRT to its 3rd victory in as many starts.
Manaloto finished with 16 points, Garrucho added 11 points, Chipeng Uy shot 9 points and Simon Tan had 8 points.
Backstopping Dy were Badong Eufre with 23 points, Danny Boy Uy 22 points and Tan with 12 points.
In the 2nd game Fyr Fyter outscored Orix Metro in the half 48-36 behind John Dustin Chua’s 13 points , Nico Lopingco’s 10 points and Julius Teruel’s 8 points while Robbie Jalando-on and RJ Iligan combined for 17 points for Orix.
Orix outplayed the Fyters in the 2nd half 43-37, as Jalando-on added 9 more points, Jan Jan Guevarra shot 7 points and Johann Villanueva made 8 points. However, it was not enough to overhaul the lead, as Teruel and Jolly Castillo led a balanced output tallying 8 points apiece.
Chua finished with 17 points, Teruel made 16 points, Lopingco shot 13 points, Jolly Castillo scored 10 points, Mark Binguan tallied 9 points and Devin Villacruz had 8 points.
Jalando-on paced the losers with 17 points, Brian Tan, Villanueva and Iligan hit 12 points each and Dr. Chico Coruña chipped in 8 points. (Stephen Tan)
