Guanzon rain treys on Gentech-A A +A

OLIVER Bol Manaloto scored a tournament-high 55 points for MRT Gentech but it was not enough to defeat the hot three-point shooting streak of Guanzon Dental Clinic 116-96 last Friday in the Filsino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd conference intercolor tournament at TTHS Po Hang Gym.
Guanzon scored 61 points in the 2nd half, with 54 points delivered from the rainbow territory. Bong Palo sunk 12 treys in the 2nd half to topscore with 36 points while Joel Mahinay made three triples to finish with 23 points.
Mark Velez shot 22 points and Mahinay added 12 points in the 1st half to post a 55-46 halftime lead, even as Manaloto and Tubby Villanueva scored 15 and 9 points, respectively for MRT.
In the 3rd canto, Palo kept MRT at bay with six triples while Manaloto countered with 13 points, as Guanzon extended the lead to 81-67.
MRT managed to score 29 points in the payoff quarter, with 27 points coming from Manaloto but the barrage of 11 triples totaling from Guanzon widened the lead further.
Jose Miguel Montinola added 21 points and Dr. Emil Guanzon shot 10 points for Guanzon.
Backstopping Manaloto were Simon Tan with 14 points, Villanueva had 13 points and Joseph Tiu made 8 points.

Joshbianc Motors continue to lead the 8-team tournament with a 5-0 card, Atlantic Auto Parts is at 4-1, Johann Kendrick and MRT Gentech are tied at 3-2.
Guanzon on a 3-game winning streak improves to 3-3, Fyr Fyter Marketing totes a 2-3 card while Orix Metro sports a 1-4 record.
Campuestohan Highland Resort has already bowed out of the quarterfinals contention.
Games today, Monday will feature Fyr Fyter vs Atlantic Auto Parts in the curtain raiser to be followed by Joshbianc Motors tangling against Orix Metro. (Stephen Tan)
