NEGROS Occidental Football Association’s Ceres-La Salle battles for the title of the Philippine Football Federation’s Smart Club Championship at the Rizal Memorial Stadium after sweeping all the games in the elimination round.
Their 1-0 victory against the country’s No.1 football team Stallion Giligans of Iloilo City last January 13 at the Panaad Park & Stadium paved the way to their entry into the knockout semifinals where the squad defeated the vaunted Kaya FC.
Ceres-La Salle was the lone entry from the provincial clubs in the four-squad semi-finals cast.
The team flew to Manila last January 31 with their coaches, team managers and friends to prepare and support them for the championship against Pasargrad FC.
"Our team is set and physically fit for the championship match and I'm confident that we will win it," said Ceres-La Salle Coach Freddie "Nene" Lazarito.
