BACOLOD Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) startled St. John's Institute (SJI), 107-57, in the provincial eliminations of Milo Best passerelle division at Po Hang gym on Saturday.
Hotshot Samjosef Belangel burned the hoops with a game-high 32 points, hitting 20 in the opening quarter as the Thunderbolts strike with a merciless 31-10 onslaught.
Reed-thin Jester Sangco sizzled with 13 of his total 15 and burly Jose Maria Palacios drained 12 of his 14 overall points in the second canto to give Tay Tung a 62-27 lead at half giving the boys from Hua Ming something to remember.
John Vergara took care of the third quarter scattering 12 of his 16 points leaving six markers for others to share while padding the Thunderbolts' lead to an insurmountable 80-40 difference.
Coach Tata Belangel's wards then put the finishing touches with a 27-17 spurt while mentor Ritchie Militante could not believe what he saw as the soaring Falcons fall to the ground as if hit by a live wire.
So surprised and frustrated were the Shopping lads that no one scored more than nine points against the Libertad team SJI normally whipped in the past.
BTTHS skipped the Condura Cup "D" League organized by Basketball Coaches Association of Negros to concentrate with Milo tournament as it eyed the Visayas regional.
Assisting Belangel is older brother Sammy Dave and Rey Pandoro, formerly with SJI, while Militante has Lim, says a data e-mailed to SCOOP-Bacolod.
