BASKETBALL Unified Sports Group nipped Wellisa Farms, 92-88, and bowed to Bantayan Selection, 100-103, in a pair of out-of-town games last week in Bantayan Island, Cebu.
Koko Fuentebella led the Huskies with 30 points, Nene Sibaya drilled in 15, Ireneo Morales has 12, and Edgar Basco 10 negating the 40-point performance of host Wellington Chan Lim, who hit 12 triples.
Mikee Lim added 10 markers as the rest of Welissa Farms' workers could not shot over eight points due to a stinging defense employed by the visitors from Bacolod.
A younger Bantayan Selection formed by Councilor Danilo Kiamco could not be denied victory as Bill Tangco led five other double digit scorers in repulsing the more mature visiting age-group cagers.
Tangco burned the hoops with 20, Junjun Yu chipped in 18, Abe Lim hit 13, Richard Gonzaga added 12, Pong Alolor and Bebot Arabe shot 10 apiece.
BUSG relied on Vic Duenas' 30 points supported by Nene Sibaya's 20, Raymundo Sapa scattered 15, Rene Antones has 14, Koko Fuentebella chipped in 12 and Edgar Basco churned in 10 points. The Huskies were in a trailing mode the rest of the way as the 30-Up select team of Bantayan never gave the visitors a chance to overtake.
The Huskies trip was second in a row after 40 Aces Club in Cebu hosted a couple of fellowship games earlier. Calendared out-of-town games are part of the special events programmed by BUSG chaired by adviser Bing Soyao.
Dumaguete is being considered next in the agenda, which will be tabled on September 5 Core Committee meeting at Apollo Restaurant Shopping.
