SUMMIT Mineral Water routed Creamy Delight Pasteurized Yogurt, 96-69 while Colt 45 shocked Tanduay Black, 79-75 last Monday in the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Inc. Inter-color tournament at BTTHS Po Hang Gym.
Daniel Chiu and Kieron Tan hit eight points each as Summit outplayed Creamy Yogurt in the 1st half, 50-31. Yogurt got its offense going with Kenderson Hao and Raul Javelosa's combined 14 points.
The Creamies showed promise in the third as RB Chua, Ralph Ong and Clarence Quingco clawed back and drew closer at 64-56 only to be snapped short by Watermen's juggernaut.
Chiu found his range and drilled three triples, Dr. Emil Guanzon scored eight and Tan added six as Summit sizzled for 32 quarter points while Yogurt got puzzled cramming for only 13 markers.
Former USLS Stinger Chiu, who still got the hands despite the paunch, paced Summit with 17, former UNO-R Ram Ritchie Militante picked up 15, Tan has 14, Guanzon 13, Johann Villanueva and Tide Rogacion combined for 16.
Chua struggled with 13 and Ong hit 12 as Yogurt's offense turned sour.
Colt 45 never looked back after leading 21-17 in the opening canto as Robbie Jalando-on fired all his 11 points against Daniel Ong's nine.
Tanduay Black tried to contain Colt 45's inside game early leaving Ching San Su wide open for three triples for 11 markers and a 45-31 halftime lead.
Tanduay outscored Colt 45 in the next 2 quarters but never caught up as the absence of center Ong who left after the 1st Quarter likewise abandoned their board control. Colt's anemic shooting was offset as it outrebounded Black at both ends allowing more possessions and putbacks to hold back Tanduay.
Marc Lo led a balanced Colt 45 attack with 13, Luigi Coo scored 12 all in the 2nd half, Chibon Uy shot 10, Popoy Chua had eight and Derek Sibug six.
Jose Miguel Montinola scored 18 in a losing effort, Ryan Alegario and Johnnyson Yu finished with nine each, Ton Ton Chua made eight and Chief Supt. Rosales has seven.
