DEFENDING champion Philippines tries to repeat against Chinese Taipei at 7 p.m. today at the Panaad Park and Stadium for the 2nd Philippine Peace Cup. The Azkals beat the Taiwanese 3-1 in last year's final at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.
Leading the nationals are Chieffy Caligdong of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo and siblings Phil and James Younghusband alongside Marwin Angeles, Misagh Bahadoran, Jerry Barbaso, Jeffrey Christiaens, Jason de Jong, Patrick Deto, Chris Greatwich, Mark Hartmann, OJ Porteria and Negrense keeper Edward Sacapano.
Flying in from Europe are Stephan Schrok, Neil Etheridge, Jerry Lucena, Rob Gier, Juani Gerado, Paul Mulders, Angel Guirado, Patrick Reichelt and new addition Martin Steuble from Switzerland.
Coach Michael Weiss is fielding one of its strongest lineups with the availability of Fil-foreigners from abroad.
Chinese Taipei is composed of head coach Kuei-Jen Chen, assistant coaches Chi Feng Chen, Jiunn Ming Chen and Ching Jen Fang; team manager en Jui Chen, Physio theraphist Kuo Feng Sung, media officer Ke Ming Chang and players Ruei Wang, Yu Hung Chiu, Chang Lun Lin, Mao Li, Kai Chun Huang, Ming Chan He, Meng Hsuah Hsieh, Ting Yang Chen, Wei Chih Pan, Hung Hsu Tai, Yin Hung Tai, in Hung Kuo, Meng Chian Lee, Yueh Han Lin, Chih Hao Wen, Victor Zi Hsuan Chou Hsieh, Po Liang Chen, Tai Lin Lee and Yi Wei Chen.
Tickets for Azkals games are P500 for grandstand (center), P200 grandstand (side), P50 for bleachers. Chinese -Pakistan match tickets are pegged at P200-P100-P50.
Tickets are available online at Ticket World and for Bacolod residents at Planta Hotel and Panaad Park.
Online purchasers proceeding straight to Panaad on game day are advised to come at least 90 minutes before kickoff to give ample time for ticket redemption at the designated on-site Ticket World booth.
Traffic will be heavy as entrance and exit will use the Mansilingan road as there are repairs ongoing at the Panaad rotunda. Fans are advised to come early to avoid congestion and inconvenience.
Game on October 13 is Chinese Taipei against Pakistan at 4 p.m. The Azkals will meet the Pakistanis on October 15 at 7 p.m.
