Ceres in Group A top spot-A A +A

Brushing aside its 1-nil loss against the Philippine Army last week, defending PFF-Smart Club National Champion Ceres Football Club sideswept Pachanga-Diliman FC, 2-1 last Tuesday to take back the top spot of Group A in the ongoing United Football League Cup.
Ceres worked harder this time to gain more possessions and send the ball on target against a strong Pachanga side.
Scoreless after 30 minutes, the Bacolod-based squad finally found the back of the net as Korean reinforcement Jin Ho Kim nailed the first goal in the 34th minute.
Seven minutes later, Jalsor Soriano, who substituted for Jaime Poderoso, booted just outside the box for Ceres' second goal and a 2-0 lead at half.
Pachanga came out with fire putting several attempts in the next missing its target, not until Ariel Zerrudo Jr. brokeaway in the 57th minute to cut the lead to a goal.
Pachanga’s Nate Burkley almost got an equalizer header but Ceres’ Korean keeper Jae Hun Hyoun foiled the shot.
With its triumph, Ceres led Group A with 3 wins and a loss for 9 points while Pachanga slipped to No. 3 and tied with Manila Jeepney with 7 points.
