Basecom posts 6th straight win-A A +A

BASECOM rolled to its sixth straight win in Class B against Organic Solutions 72-62, while AACI Transport survived an undermanned Huminova tigers 87-84 in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd conference Inter-Company tournament at the Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
Organic enjoyed an opening quarter advantage 25-16 behind Jan Jan Young's 10 points and Joaquin Gochangco Jr. and Biboy Uysang's 6 points each even as Chief Superintendent Adonis Rosales fired 9 points for Basecom.
Organic was scoreless for the first 5 minutes of the second quarter and saw their lead fizzle as Basecom scored 14 straight points. The duo of Keith Banzon and Luigi Coo combined for 25 points in the quarter to give Basecom the lead at the break 43-34.
Both teams played on almost even terms in the second half as Basecom pulled off the win relying on their defense and fast break offense. Organic outrebounded Basecom and made their perimeter jumpers, but just couldn't made it past Basecom.
Coo paced Basecom with 18 points, Banzon added 15 points, Rosales scored 14 points, while Atty. Jubert Katalbas and Glenn Yee made 9 points apiece.
Organic was led by Young finishing with 15 points, Uy Sang picked up 14 points, Gochangco Jr. hit 8 points, Rommel Genovea and Monroe Chua with 7 points each; and Brian Ong, 6 points.
In Class A action, the undermanned Huminova Tigers duo of Carlo Chu and RB Chua sizzled with 45 points and 25 points, respectively, but their herculean effort fell short against a balance AACI Transport offense.
The Tigers kept up with AACI Transport by halftime at 45 all as Brian Tan and Bren Tajonera combined for 20 points for Transport.
Robbie Jalando-on hit 11 points and Tajonera added 6 points to give AACI Transport a slim 68-67 lead going to the fourth quarter.
Rebounding disadvantage, fatigue and lack of scoring support caught up with the Tigers as AACI Transport was able to lead by 10 points in the quarter and Tajonera and Jalando-on scored the last 8 points to preserve the Transport victory.
Tajonera led Transport with 21 points, Jalando-on scored 19 points all in the second half, while Derek Sibug contributed 10 points and DK Equipaje added 6 points. (With reports from Stephen Tan)
