Area 7-Bacolod reigns in secondary boys athletics-A A +A

FOUR golds, two silvers and a couple of bronze medals gave Area 7 secondary boys some measure of respect in the 2013 Provincial Meet on Wednesday at Panaad Park and Stadium.
Bacolod City's Jose Jerry Belibestre took the gold in long jump hurling himself in 6.66 meters; Francis John Escora threw the disc in 32.31; Alexis Soquino dominated high jump at 1.79 and 110 m hurdles in 14.68, becoming a twin gold medalist in the process.
Mark John Balajeboro took the silver in 52.04 in the 400 meter run behind Jay Patrick Nieles of Area 8 who booked 50.55 seconds while teammate JF Escora placed second in shot put with 11.34 after Leonilo Salumag of Area 1 who finished with 11.41.
Bronze medals went to Rodrigo Delaben with 1.65 in high jump and Dexter Estrella who registered 13.34 in triple jump. Area 2's Cesar Fernandez bettered Delaben with 1.77 while Marc Given Magallanes outjumped Estrella with 13.42.
Meanwhile, Kimbert Miraflores of Area 2 ruled the 5,000-meter run in 17.41.83 while Area 1 teammates Joden Lagnason and Junard Limba made it a 2-3 finish in 17.49.19, giving runners from San Carlos City down to Manapla the edge in long distance running.
In secondary girls, Area 9 represented by Negros Occidental High School got two golds courtesy of Mary Anthony Diesto in long jump and Rocel Pahilanga in 100 m hurdles. Diesto recorded 5.24 meters while Pahilanga raced in 15.78 seconds.
Ailyn Tumbali of Area 4 and Syrah Serna of Area 6 trailed Diesto in the field while Area 3's Kim Cyra Pedrina and Area 7's Arlyn Saul shadowed Pahilanga in the tracks.
Shot put's best was Area 5 through Dianne Grace Zayco (9.09) while Area 3's twin Aira Teodisio and Thanya Andrea Ibasco made it 2-3 (8.94 and 8.29).
The 400 meters gold went to Lovielyn Pamatian of Area 4 who sprinted in 59.57 while Area 7's Joycie Beranio settled for silver with 1.00.37. Kimberly Zulueta of Area 8 got bronze in 1.03.04.
Chess, which was played in Panaad's Media Center, was hit by brownout yesterday. After Round 6 in elementary boys, Area 4 has accumulated 10.5 points behind Johart John Tenero and Gee Ian Gallano.
Coming in 10 points apiece are Area 1 and Area 7. Aeron Keife Sinining and Raphael Louie Ramiso scored 6 and 4 each for Area 1 while Kenneth Ballo-allo and Clark Ken Pelione were 5-5 for Area 7.
