FOLLOWING the successful first edition of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines-Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (Scoop)-Bacolod Inc. joint venture held last March, the second edition is expected to be a bigger one scheduled to unfold at the Activity Center of the Gaisano Grand Bacolod mall.

Organizers said the event seeks to promote camaraderie among chess players in Bacolod and in the province. It will also help unite chess clubs in Negros Occidental by breaking the barriers that hindered the development of the sports in the province for many years, and to establish a harmonious atmosphere in the chess community.

Furthermore, a long-term chess program is most-likely to be implemented next year to benefit the chess community in the province.

The two categories to be competed are the Non-Master Open and the U-18 Juniors.
