100 chessers expected in today’s NCFP/Scoop-Bacolod tourney-A A +A

SOME 100 woodpushers from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are expected to show their skills in the 2nd National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP)-Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines–Bacolod Inc. Chess Tournament which kicks off today at the Activity Center of Gaisano Grand Bacolod mall.
With the ending of 2013 Palarong Panlalawigan, coaches and young chessers in the province will be taking this opportunity to further gain exposure in this sports.
Organizers said the event aims to promote camaraderie among the chess players in Bacolod and the province. It will also help unite chess clubs in the province.
Players will compete in two categories of the NCFP-sanctioned tournament – the Non-Master Open and the U-18 Juniors.
Prizes at stake in the Non-Master: champion P3,000 plus trophy and certificate; first runner-up P1,500 plus trophy and certificate; second runner-up P1,000 plus trophy and certificate); fourth to 10th placers P250 each plus certificate; and P400 plus certificate for the top female finisher.
For the U-18 Juniors division, the champion will take home P1,500 plus trophy and certificate); first runner-up, P1,000 plus trophy and certificate); second runner-up, P800 plus trophy and certificate); fourth-10th placers, P150 each plus certificate; and P 250 plus certificate for the top female finisher.
Registration fee is P250 for the Non-Master and P150 for the U-18 Juniors. (HGD)
