THE 1st Ceres Football Club Friendship 7-A-Side Football Festival will kick off February 1.
The tournament aims to provide enthusiasts the opportunity to foster fellowship and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe and friendly environment.
The bootfest, held in coordination with Negros Occidental Football Association and the Philippine Football Federation, will also encourage and promote football development in the province.
Venues for this festival will be at Ceres FC North Football Field (across Ayala District), Ceres FC Football Field-Mandalagan (behind Convergys building) and St. John’s Institute Explorer School Football Field (Ayala The District).
Some 200 teams from across the country are expected to compete in 10 age-groups: boys/girls or mixed, born 2006 and after; boys/girls or mixed, born 2004 and after; boys born 2002 and after; boys born 2000 and after; boys born 1998 and after; boys born 1996 and after; girls born 2000 and after; Men’s born 1976 and before; Ladies Open; and Men’s Open.
Nicholas Golez, vice chairman of the organizing committee, said they are launching the festival to let other cities know where they have to go when it comes to football.
“We are very thankful for the Yanson family for giving this opportunity to other aspiring football players to develop their skills,” he said.
Leo Rey Yanson is the over-all chairman of the festival’s organizing committee, with Warren Concepcion, competitions director and match commissioner; Augustine Rivas, head of officials; Dennis Estaniel, referees assessor; and Norman Fegidero, control and disciplinary committee. (HGD)
