338 Bacolod athletes to join Batang Pinoy-A A +A

A TOTAL of 338 athletes and 36 coaches from Bacolod City will see action in the 2014 Batang Pinoy on January 28 to February 1 in their home turf.
The Bacolod contingent will compete in arnis, which will have 18 players; athletics, 29; badminton, 26; basketball, 4; boxing, 14; chess, 42; dance sport, 4; futsal, 14; karatedo, 41; lawn tennis, 8; sepak takraw, 5; softball, 15; swimming, 27; taekwondo, 19; table tennis, 24; triathlon, 10; weightlifting, 5; volleyball, 25; and cycling, 8.
Competing delegates, including those from Ormoc City and Tanauan, Batangas, are due to arrive in Bacolod on January 25. Ormoc has 25 participants while Tanauan has 52.
Three athletes from Caloocan and 39 from Mati City in Davao will arrive on January 28.
Some 2,540 delegates from across the country are scheduled to compete in the week-long sports competition.
A total of 824 delegates will be coming from Luzon, 647 from the Visayas, 569 from Mindanao, and 500 from hosts Bacolod and Negros Occidental.
Participants and their coaches will be billeted in 10 public schools in Bacolod with Andres Bonifacio Elementary School- I housing the Western Visayas delegation.
Andres Bonifacio Elementary School II is reserved for Eastern Visayas, while C.L. Montelibano Elementary School is committed to Central Visayas.
D. A. Montelibano Elementary School will host Central Visayas; A. L. Jayme Elementary School and Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School, Mindanao; Rizal Elementary School, Education and Training Center School I, II and III, Luzon.
Technical officials will be housed at the Bacolod City National High School and Panaad Park and Stadium. (HGD)
