BCAN 40U, 50U games slated middle of February-A A +A

NINE teams from five basketball clubs have confirmed participation when the 1st BCAN-organized 40Up and 50Up basketball tournament opens tentatively February 15 at West Negros University gym.
Representatives of Negros Professional Athletic Club, Homesite Basketball Organization, United Negros Athletic Club, 40 Plus and Basketball Unified Sports Group met with president Bobby Tee of Basketball Coaches Association of Negros on Wednesday at Apollo Restaurant Shopping.
Iloilo Pros of Toto Espinosa of Iloilo City sent its intention to join through Baby Mijares as confirmed by Rene Cuison, a BCAN member.
Neproac president Bobby Chong, Buddy Ferrer of HBO, Tony Belonio and Ronnie Abangan of 40 Plus Club of retired Judge Anastacio Rufon, Nene Sibaya of UNAC, Cuison for Iloilo Pros, and BUS Group secretary Tikboy Doble discussed and agreed on rules and format of the tournament.
Tee said he is still waiting for the reply of Bobby Regalado of Alijis Basketball Club and Hinigaran Amateur Basketball Association.
System for both age categories is a single round robin elimination, a quarterfinal for the top six, semifinal and final.
Entry fee is pegged at P8,000. The tournament will use a three-man coverage plus two table officials.
Interested parties may attend the final meeting next Wednesday at 5:50 p.m. at Apollo Restaurant Shopping. Teams may submit their official lineup with photocopies of their members' ID cards preferably driver's license, SSS, TIN card, GSIS and other documents to substantiate their correct age.
As agreed, only 15 players can play per game regardless of the number in its official lineup. Uniform shirts must have the family name at the back and no number duplication.
Format is standard game (not passerelle) and covered by Fiba rules. A 50U participant must have been born on or before January 31, 1964 while the 40 Up’s cutoff date is January 31, 1974.
