INITIALLY set to start third week of February, the Basketball Coaches Association of Negros (BCAN) has lured 13 teams to join its 40 Up and 50 Up tournament to be played at the mahogany court of West Negros University gym.

Newly-formed Bacolod Athletic Club (BAC), 40 Plus of Judge A. Rufon, Iloilo Pros, United Negros Athletic Club (UNAC), Alijis Basketball Club ABC), Police/Pastors Basketball Club (PPBC) and Basketball Unified Sports Group (BUSG) are the seven entries in the 40Up category.
Homesite Basketball Organization, Negros Professionals Athletic Club will compete with BAC, 40 Plus, Iloilo Pros and BUS Group in the 50-plus division with organizers expecting more entries.

Tournament commissioner Jake Azucena, pinchhitting for recuperating BCAN president who underwent a bypass operation, announced on Wednesday's team representatives meeting that participants must play in at least two games in the eliminations to qualify for the next round.

Entry fee is pegged at P8,000 for a single round robin, quarterfinal, semis and final games. A team's fixed lineup is unlimited but only 15 uniformed players can play per game.

Interested parties may contact Jake Azucena at (0942)3752638. (HGD)
