Doble: On with the games-A A +A
Friday, February 7, 2014
THE 10 Under and Aspirants division of the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (Nopsscea) will start February 8. That's the good news from my friend-coaches who were grinning from ear to ear as the development games will not be shelved after all.
It is time for the kids 10 years old and Under to perform in various events lined up. The first year and second year students too will have their chance to play and enjoy against their "teammates" from other schools.
Never mind if your children will be playing catch up games because whether they like it or not it will be finished before the end of school's closing.
My sources said that Nopsscea will have two venues (probably for basketball) in order not to overshoot its schedule. Why limit to two and for other events as well if it can be held simultaneously in gyms, covered courts and fields of existing Nopsscea member-schools.
Christian Academy of Bacolod has a nice gym and the teams located in Bacolod north can converge in that area. Perhaps University of St. La Salle can share their covered court and Colegio San Agustin Bacolod is just nearby.
Add Riverside College, St. John's Institute and West Negros University for a collective hosting and you have more venues than the games.
For central Bacolod schools, Christian Center is just right in the middle. Po Hang gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos are just around the corner.
Trinity Christian School at the east can ease the load and lessen the travel expenses of parents and relatives who will be accompanying the neophytes of the games.
It is just a matter of identifying, contracting and scheduling the games and venues and we're very sure Rev. Edwin Madlangbayan, the Sports Task Force chair, will finish his chores with flying colors.
The students and the parents should congratulate the Nopsscea Board for coming up with the right decision to continue the last events for its member-schools budget or no budget.
Whatever problems the Board may have encountered, it was able to solve these on time. The stakeholders surely appreciate the gesture. Better late than never.
