THE SeaOil-National Basketball Training Center All-Star games will be held on February 16 at West Negros University gym in Bacolod City.
Game time is set at 9:30 a.m., while the uniforms will be distributed at 8:30 at the same venue, said tournament commissioner Jake Azucena.
Two teams from Iloilo will showcase their talents against the select squads from Bacolod leg participants, who are chosen based on consumed fuel and oil products from Panay and Negros SeaOil gas stations.
The games, originally scheduled a week earlier, were postponed as the Iloilo leg has not yet finished its championship. West Negros University defended its title by sweeping Living Heritage Christian Academy in the elimination and final round.
The Junior Mustangs figured in the championship after beating University of St. La Salle in the semis while LHCA whipped Bacolod Tay Tung High School with a come-from-behind win in the other SF match.
Undefeated in its group, the Thunderbolts led three-fourths of the way but were outscored 24-14 in the final canto. The loss proved to be a blessing in disguise as the trio of Sam Josef Belangel, Miggy Corteza and Jesmar Pedrosa won the Batang Pinoy National Finals 3-on-3 title.
Errol Pastor, who hails from Cadiz City, completed Team Bacolod coached by Tay Tung’s Tata Belangel and managed by Jose “Boy” Montalbo, which beat Zamboanga, 20-15 in the final game. The bull-strong Pastor is seen to join the Thunderbolts next school year.
WNU coach Dennis Tumayan and his wards, led by two-time Most Valuable Player Keith Pido, will advance to the NBTC national finals in March 6 at Ultra in Pasig to compete with other leg champions.
The Ceres-La Salle FC mentored by Bernard Ali Go.
