Don Bosco vs UNO-R in U16 Finals

DON Bosco Technical Institute and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos blanked their respective opponents to arrange a championship match in the U16 division of the 2014 Dynamic Football Club at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

Both sides will battle for the crown at 3:30 p.m. on March 1.

Tournament leader DBTI dropped Negros Occidental High School, 2-nil in their semifinal face-off over the weekend behind the twin goals of Philip Jurisprudencia in the 8th and 65th minutes.

UNO-R clinched a championship spot after a 3-nil victory over Bago City’s Ramon Torres National High School.

John Terence Cordova opened UNO-R’s scoring in the 32nd minute before Gyles Encabo made it in the 35th minute for a 2-nil advantage at the break.

The Junior Rams kept the momentum as Encabo found the back of the net in the 55th minute for his second goal in the match.

RTNHS and NOHS will settle for third place also on March 1 at 1:30 p.m.

In the U13 category, defending champion University of St. La Salle-Integrated School takes on DBTI in the first semifinals match while Trinity Christian School battles Apolinario Mabini Elementary School (Ames) in the second semis match-up.

USLS-IS survived UNO-R, 11-10 in the penalty shootout after both squads closed the regulation at 3-all.

Matthew Maramba opened USLS’s scoring in the early second minute before UNO-R’s Edrian Mayuga made the equalizer in the seventh minute followed by Mark Cantos’ goal in the 12th minute for a UNO-R lead.

Chyle Mirflores connected at 21st minute to even the scoreboard as Rowel Hautea gave back the lead to UNO-R at the half, 3-2.

Ryan Locsin saved the day for USLS when he equalized in the 50th minute.

Another semifinalist TCS scored a commanding 5-nil victory over St. Scholastica’s Academy behind scorers Ken Rendolf Rojo (4’, 48’), Isaiah Jacob Teruel (8’ 36’) and Vince Chu (41’).

Ames dominated Andres Bonifacio Elementary School (Abes), 5-2 behind Joseph Ciocon (2’, 43’, 48) and Johnsent Paul Catoto (35’, 38’) as DBTI downed St. John’s Institute, 5-nil.

Godwin Zhyle Diamante led DBTI scoring in the 29th and 34th minutes as Jacob Inoferio, Paul Justine Juen and Kai Limocon connecting in the 12th, 25th, and 48thminutes, respectively. (HGD)
