1st Ceres Cup 7-A-Side set

SOME 100 teams from various football clubs across the country are expected to converge in the cities of Bacolod and Talisay when the 1st Ceres Cup 7-A-Side football tournament kick offs on May 17 and 18.

Fourteen categories will be contested in the two-day bootfest, including Under-8, Under-9 and Under-10, which are all open to boys, girls or mixed teams, Under-11, Under-12 and Under-13 – all in the boy's category; Under-14 Girls, Under-15 Boys, Under-18 Boys and Under-18 Girls, Under-20 Boys as well as Men's Open, Ladies' Open and 38-Above.

Formal letters of invitation, registration forms and other tournament details will be sent out today. Interested teams may contact the Competition Committee through (0916)6873460.

Registration fee is pegged at P1,000 for the 38-Above and Men's Open groups while P800 for the age-groups.

The festival is a vision of Ceres FC manager Leo Rey Yanson aimed at providing football enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment. It also seeks to encourage and promote football development in Negros Occidental.

Also working with Yanson in this tournament is vice chairman Nicolas Golez.
