Ceres blanks Cimarron, 4-0, stays on top of 2nd Division

Ceres-La Salle FC remained on top of the Second Division of the United Football League blanking Cimarron, 4-0 on Saturday at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig City.

Younousse Yaogo and Patrick Reichelt scored two goals each giving Ceres its eighth win in 11 outings for 26 points at the end of the first round.

The Transporters have a couple of ties and a loss to finish on top of the 12-team second tier.

Yaogo nailed Ceres’ first goal in the 31st minute to give the Bacolod based club a one-nil lead after 45 minutes of play while Reichelt scored his team’s second in the 60th minute. Yaogo hit again five minutes later for a comfortable three-nil advantage and Reichelt found the back of the net in the 92nd minute to seal the victory.

In the UFL’s transfer window, Ceres-La Salle FC dropped Hyeok Gyu Goo, Kevin Rob Hartmann, Jae Jin Lee, and Hwa Seo Park giving them a chance to other teams.

Ceres will face the Philippine Navy on March 29 in the second round of the tournament and will continue its quest as the top squad in the league’s second tier. The champion of the 2013 PFF-Smart Club National Championship, Ceres-La Salle is also preparing for the upcoming AFC President’s Cup 2014 Group Stage this coming May 1 to 11.

CLSFC is among the three football clubs that will host the Group Stage with Erchim FC of Mongolia and the Sri Lanka Air Force SC of Sri Lanka.
Eleven clubs will participate in the AFC President’s Cup 2014 Group Stage which will be divided into two groups of four clubs each and one group of three clubs.

These clubs are Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited (Bangladesh), Ugyen Academy FC (Bhutan), Svayrieng FC (Cambodia), Tatung Company (Chinese Taipei), Rimyongsu Club (DPR Korea), Manang Marshyangdi Club (Nepal), KRL Football Club (Pakistan), FC HTTU (Turkmenistan), and hosts Erchim FC (Mongolia), Sri Lanka Air Force SC (Sri Lanka) and Ceres-La Salle FC, representing the Philippines.
