Batches ’82, ’96, ‘97 rule NOHS Inter-Class tourney-A A +A

CLASS ‘82 emerged as champion in the premiere division while Batch ‘96 and ‘97 were victorious in their respective divisions in the just-concluded 2014 Negros Occidental High School General Alumni Homecoming Inter-Class Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.
Batch ’99 anchorman Richard Secuelan and Class ’91 sparkplug Grace Tamaño took the masters title in the battle among the top10 bowlers in both the men’s and women’s department.
Class ‘82 Pincrushers spearheaded by Mae Trayfalgar and Azela Ban Tejada clinched the Class-A division title by defeating Class ‘85 piloted by Iran Pielago, 535-528 in the final showdown.
Champion Class ‘82 were bannered by Cesar Sumaylo, Edwin Sarcepuedes, Joether Fernandez, Joemarie Biasca, Glenn Salanap, Ann Dayot, Jean Rodriguez, Erlan Menesses, and Roger Azucena.
Pielago’s group earned the opportunity to challenge the top team to beat by ripping Class ‘84 in the quarterfinals.
Class ‘84 led by Ruby Gliz Barbosa and Class ‘68 of Cero Cordova settled for second and third runners-up while
Batch ‘96 won the Bracket B title with a victory over Batch ‘90 in the championship, 329-323.
Batch ‘90 shut down Batch ‘95 in the semis to face the No.1 seed in the battle for the title as the Golden Team/Class ‘62 -Combined placed third runner-up.
It was Batch ‘97 ball throwers who reigned supreme in bracket C by outclassing Batch ‘99 in the championship, 319-313. Batch ‘94 and Class ‘67 Mavericks finished second and third runners-up, respectively.
Consolation prize winners in the non-winning entries were Class ‘72 in the premiere class; and Class ‘71 in category B and Batch’91 in bracket C.
Class ‘82 established the tournament’s record in single and triple with 563 and 1,546 and will receive their awards and other winners on April 26. (HGD)
