TICKETS for the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President’s Cup 2014 Group B Qualifier will be available starting Saturday, May 3, at the Ceres Football Club headquarters (formerly North Resto Bar) located across Ayala’s The District in Talisay City.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) reiterated that the AFC tournament is free admission in the open bleachers, while the tickets are for the main stadium.
As the preparations are on its final stage, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is launching the Oplan “AFC” to secure the staging of the Group B Qualifier games from May 6 to 10 at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
“The Oplan AFC is already prepared and subject for the approval of City Director Larry Decena,” said Chief Insp. Noel Polines, head of the Security Committee.
Polines said a total of 257 police personnel will be deployed – 214 at the Panaad Stadium and 43 in designated hotels to secure AFC participants, officials and guests.
“We will also have K9 units and Swat teams during the event to ensure the safety of all teams and spectators," he added.
Meanwhile, the repair and rehabilitation of Panaad Stadium is almost 80 percent complete as the LOC is working double time to meet the requirements set by the AFC.
Aside from huge facelift of the main stadium, the LOC also focuses on keeping the football pitch green in time for the tournament.
"We know that during summer, grasses turn brown thus, we fertilize these to remain green. We also planted some grass in the goal’s mouth to make it green as well,” said Nicolas Golez, chairman of LOC.
Seats for VIPs are being installed at the main stadium, which is among the AFC requirements aside from the installation of two more dressing rooms with showers.
Golez appealed anew for support from Bacolodnons and Negrenses.
“We would like to have a full [Panaad] stadium every match day. Not only will it be good for the team’s morale, but it will greatly leave an impression on the other teams, as well as the AFC,” he added. (HGD)
