UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) of Cebu made the regional finals anti-climactic after two days by beating Ateneo de Iloilo, 68-58 on Friday and grounding Bacolod Tay Tung High School, 68-54 on Saturday in Iloilo City.

The 2014 Coca Cola PBA Youngstars third game became a consolation bout between the Blue Eaglets and Thunderbolts which the latter won, 53-42 yesterday.

Coach Mark Belangel relied on the combined 28 points of Miggy Corteza and Jesmar Pedrosa and additional 12 markers from Errol Pastor for second place.

Ateneo got 37 points from the trio of Narido, Diaz and Gabriel who managed to lead 15-13 and 23-22 in the first two quarters. A 20-point third quarter blast by Tay Tung catapulted the Libertad-based squad to a 42-34 lead and they never looked back.

The younger Green Lancers never gave the Thunderbolts a chance as it took the half, 37-25, continued to get the upper hand at third, 51-41 and coasted to repeat as regional champions.

The UV trio of Flores, Wawar and Cahigas scattered 53 points against Corteza's lone stand of 22 points.

The Cebuanos will advance to the national finals against champions from Luzon and Mindanao.
